Visit of the city Viareggio
The main town of Versilia Viareggio, which was converted into the port of Lucca, was called Via Regia in the Middle Ages, a road from the walled town to the sea. The original settlement of Viareggio was built around the tower and eventually extended to the Burlamacca Canal, which is still the best dock for fishermen and boat owners.
In addition to beach tourism, Viareggio has always been popular with art lovers. Here is the Villa Paolina Civil Museum and the sophisticated art deco decorations that house many of the city’s villas.
Viareggio carnival:
One of the most popular and spectacular events takes place here. The event lasts four weeks every year. Tuscan tourists admire the famous allegorical paper mache swimmers. The Viareggio Carnival began in 1873 when a parade of cars and masks was organized along the seafront. Since then, the parade has been taking place since February – publicly exposing huge cartoons, politics and the world of performance.
